Queensland downpour forces meetings to be abandoned
Wet weather in Queensland is impacting several race meetings across the north of the state.
The Townsville Turf Club on Wednesday was abandoned following a 40mm deluge, with flooding in an area of the back straight.
Flooding in Mt Isa has forced the abandonment of Saturday’s meeting at the track.
“Road closures caused by flooding are preventing participants access to this meeting, and with further rain forecast today, Friday and Saturday there is no prospect of the meeting going ahead on Saturday,” RQ said in a statement.
RQ will now give consideration to potential changes to the race programmes in the two regions.
