Queensland features draw capacity fields at Eagle Farm

A trio of headline races at Eagle Farm on Saturday have attracted capacity fields, highlighted by the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup (1300m) and Queensland Derby (2400m).

Jimmysstar will face a tricky assignment in the Kingsford Smith Cup after drawing barrier 15 in the $1 million sprint feature.

The Kingsford Smith Cup field is loaded with elite-level performers, with 11 individual Group 1 winners accepted including Rothfire, Private Eye, Desert Lightning and Fangirl.

Acceptances for the Queensland Derby also produced a full field of 18 runners plus five emergencies for the staying feature.

Chris Waller holds a strong hand in the Derby with Monopolistic and Providence among the leading acceptors, along with Rough Habit Plate winner Kilman has also secured a start.

The BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m), sponsored by The Straight, will be run for $1 million and has drawn a capacity field of 18 runners plus two emergencies.

Port Macquarie trainer Jenny Graham’s unbeaten juvenile Vantorix heads the Sires’ Produce Stakes field, while Waller will saddle four runners including last-start winner Tron Bolt.
