RV director Guerra removed as Melbourne Football Club CEO

Melbourne Football Club chief executive Paul Guerra, who is also a Racing Victoria board member, has been sacked from his high-profile Australian Rules position just seven months into the job.

Guerra was appointed as CEO of the Demons in April last year, but did not start in the role until September.

The club has been investigating long-term options to house its training and administration facilities with Caulfield Racecourse mooted as a potential option.

However, no deal has been signed and it is understood that some members of Melbourne Racing Club are against allowing the Australian Football League club to move in on the site.

A RV director since September 2022, Guerra was formerly CEO of the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a body he is now a director of.

Guerra is reportedly seeking legal advice over his sudden axing at a time the Demons have made a strong start to the AFL season. Under new coach Steven King, they are fourth on the AFL ladder after seven games having finished 14th last year.

Brian Cook, a former CEO at Geelong and Carlton, is expected to take over at Melbourne in an interim capacity.
