Warrnambool-based Shane Jackson has become the latest regional Victorian trainer to open a secondary stable at Flemington.

Following Andrew Noblet’s decision to expand from his main operation at Ballarat, Jackson will be training out Victoria’s racing headquarters from early October.

“Flemington represents opportunity, growth and the chance to showcase our horses on one of the biggest stages in racing,” Jackson said.

“We couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead and are grateful to our owners, staff and supporters for helping us take this step forward.”

A former jumps jockey, Jackson worked as an assistant trainer under Lindsay Smith before taking out a licence in June 2022.

Jackson has an enviable winning strike-rate of 19 per cent with 35 winners from 181 starters.

His most important victory so far came with Mystery Island in the 2024 Listed Warrnambool Cup.

Tony and Calvin McEvoy also recently opened a Flemington stable to complement their Ballarat home base.
