Queensland owner Mike Sherrin added further international flavour to his racing interests, with the purchase of a Siyouni filly at the Arqana August Yearling Sale in France.

Sherrin, who raced Group 1 winner Apache Chase, was buying under the Sheralee Estate name, along with bloodstock agent Jim Clarke and Lynch Bloodstock.
He paid €270,000 for the filly out of Lady Light, a sister to Group 2 winner Tasleet out of the family of star sprinter Battaash.
It came a day after Clarke had combined with Lynch and Bjorn Baker to buy the New Bay half-brother to multiple Group 1 winner Arapaho.
Australian Peter Maher secured the half-brother to his star Arqana purchase Maranoa Charlie, paying €300,000 for the son of Baaeed, through Broadhurst Agency’s Lauren Benoit.

Maher and his partners raced multiple Group winner Maranoa Charlie before selling him to Bond Thoroughbred, and were keen to go on that ride again, with the Baeeed colt headed to Christopher Head, just like his half-brother did.
The top lot of the day sold to MV Magnier after a battle over a Wootton Bassett colt ended with a €2.3 million price tag. The colt is out of High Celebrity, whose four winning siblings include the Aidan O’Brien-trained Highbury.
Godolphin also got involved in the demand for Wootton Bassett’s third Coolmore-conceived crop, paying €900,000 for a colt out of Hidden Breeze.
American Racing Corp. paid €1.25 million for a Siyouni colt out of Lightening Pearl offered by Tweenhills Stud.
Aggregate sales hit €15,035,000, up 12 per cent year-on-year, while the average price is up 25 per cent to €246,475. The median rose from €147,500 to €175,000. The final day of the main aspect of the yearling sale is on Monday.
