Blake Shinn has tightened his grip on the Melbourne jockeys' premiership after a midweek city treble at Sandown.

The victories on Ad Vitam ($2,.35 favourite), Exit ($2.50 favourite) and Kira ($6.50) puts him seven wins in front of nearest rival Craig Williams who went winless on the eight-race Hillside card.

Shinn, who has ridden 70 metropolitan winners in Victoria this season, has six rides at Flemington on Saturday. Williams has eight rides at Flemington, the third last city meeting of the season.

Shinn will ride at the feature Grafton Cup carnival in NSW on Thursday where he will partner the Matt Dunn-trained $4.40 favourite Belvedere Boys in the cup over 2350m.
