Showdown outsider under fitness cloud for $1 million race
Racing Victoria veterinarians have completed their pre-race inspections of runners accepted for Saturday’s $1 million The TBV VOBIS Platinum Showdown at Caulfield.
One runner, the John Sadler-trained The Troubleshooter, presented with a change in its gait during Thursday’s inspection.
The Troubleshooter is a $26 chance after a first-up minor placing in the Listed Festival Stakes at Flemington on February 28.
As a result, RV veterinarians have ordered a further reinspection on Friday to determine its suitability to take its place in the field.
The remaining 11 acceptors for the rich juvenile feature were inspected and deemed suitable to race following the routine checks.
The TBV VOBIS Platinum Showdown is one of the headline events on the Caulfield program on Saturday and is restricted to two-year-olds competing under Victoria’s VOBIS incentive scheme.
