Lady Shenandoah’s introduction to Melbourne racing will come with an added twist after the Sydney mare drew the widest barrier in the Manikato Stakes.
The Chris Waller-trained four-year-old, a winner of five races from eight starts, will launch her bid for a fourth Group 1 win from gate 1o in the $2 million race at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
She will be making her first Melbourne appearance as a precursor to the $20 million Everest at Randwick on October 18.
Despite her draw, Lady Shenandoah is a warm $2.10 favourite ahead of last-start Group 1 Moir Stakes winner Baraqiel ($5) who will start from barrier seven.
Baraqiel entered calculations for an Everest slot with his Moir victory.
