Senior Tabcorp executive Paul Carew has resigned from the ASX-listed wagering firm.
Carew, appointed Tabcorp’s chief operating officer in 2022, will become managing director of ALH Hotels, which operates more than 350 licensed venues throughout Australia.
ALH Hotels is part of the Endeavour Group, an alcohol beverage retailer, hotel operator and a behemoth of the Australian poker machine industry.
Carew joined Tabcorp in 2006, working through the ranks to become a key figure in the company’s gaming services division.
He will commence his new role in early 2025.
“Paul will bring new skills and deep experience to the executive team and will help drive the next phase of Endeavourʼs success,” Endeavour’s chief executive Steve Donohue said.
“I am very pleased he has accepted this important role with the business.”
Carew’s departure comes three months after chief executive Gillon McLachlan stepped into the top job at Tabcorp.
Less than a month into the role, McLachlan abandoned Tabcorp’s TAB25 strategy, with the former AFL boss insisting the wagering firm needed a reset.
Addressing shareholders for the first time during Tabcorp’s annual general meeting in October, McLachlan pitched a national tote pool initiative to arrest the company’s fortunes.
He told the meeting he would try to secure a deal to have a national tote pool operating during his first 12 months in the job.
Carew will leave Tabcorp after recently negotiating a wagering and broadcast arrangement involving racing from Turkiye.
