Toffee Tongue’s Heironaut makes winning debut

Heironaut, the first foal of Group 1-winning filly Toffee Tongue, broke his maiden in comfortable style in debut on Thursday at Sale.

The King’s Legacy gelding, who was bred by and is still part-owned by Jonathan Munz, was having his first start for Anthony and Sam Freedman in the 1400m race.

He led all the way under Teo Nugent, who rode a treble on the day, to justify his favouritism defeating Lowestoft by one-and-three-quarter lengths with Elite Pete in third.

Heironaut was purchased for $300,000 by his trainer and agent Suman Hedge at the 2024 Magic Millions Yearling Sale and is the first winner for his dam, who won the Australasian Oaks, and who is a sister to Hong Kong champion Werther and Group 3 winner Gobstopper.

As well as Hedge and Munz, Trilogy racing also features in the ownership.

The Freedmans ended the day with four winners thanks to a treble at Sandown.
