Cantiamo has led home a quinella for Darley sire Too Darn Hot to underline her potential with a hard-earned win at Randwick.
In her only appearance since finishing fifth to Within The Law in the Inglis Nursery in December, Cantiamo had to call on all of her promise to defeat Nullarbor Jane over 1150m.
The three-year-old started a $1.55 favourite with James McDonald riding for leading trainer Kris Lees.
“She's a work in progress … she's got a lot of improvement to come, and I think she'll measure up to some better races in time,” Lees said.
Cantiamo was purchased from the draft of Sledmere Stud at the 2024 Inglis Classic yearling sale for $220,000 by Lees and agent Bahen Bloodstock.
Absent in 2024, Too Darn Hot will return to Darley Australia’s Kelvinside in the Hunter Valley this season, where he will stand at a fee of $275,000.
