Freshmen Newgate stallions Wild Ruler and Profiteer produced two-year-old trial winners at Caulfield on Thursday.

Wild Ruler’s daughter Face Forward won her heat over 800 metres for Tony and Calvin McEvoy by nearly two lengths from Sword Of State filly Torture with Home Affairs filly La Gitana in third.

She was a $150,000 Magic Millions buy for her trainers and First Light Racing.

Commit, a Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr-trained son of Profiteer, narrowly won his trial ahead of Yes Yes Yes colt Senza Nome and Astern gelding Stomping Ground.

He was a $90,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Lime Country Thoroughbreds draft.

The third trial winner was the well-related Free Flying, a $750,000 daughter of Snitzel and half-sister to Learning To Fly. She is trained by Lindsay Park and ran in the Yulong colours.

She edged out Prague filly Tuzemak and Dance The Bookie, a daughter of Extreme Warrior.

The first two-year-old races of the Australian season will be staged on Saturday.
