US colt Greenwich Village among entries for 2026 Epsom Derby
American three-year-old Greenwich Village is among 88 horses entered for the 2026 Epsom Derby.
Trained in the United States by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert, the Quality Road colt has won three of his four starts, most recently the Pasadena Stakes at Santa Anita.
Joint-owner Tom Ryan said the invitation from The Jockey Club was “a wonderful and unexpected surprise” and that plans would be carefully reviewed.
The entry list also includes two Japanese-trained colts, Akkan and Choreo Sequence, highlighting international interest in the Classic.
The Derby’s prize money will be a record £2 million, with £1 million for the winner, reflecting efforts to attract global contenders.
The most recent horse from the United States to contest the Derby was the Michael Dickinson-trained Wolf Prince, who finished unplaced as a 40/1 chance in 1993.
