Victorian owner hit with racehorse welfare charges

Racing Victoria stewards have issued 11 charges against owner Robert Stutchbury over the care and welfare of racehorses under his supervision.

Nine charges relate to alleged breaches of Australian racing rules for failing to provide proper and sufficient nutrition to horses, including Cleobella, King Of Prussia, Island Fire, Manning Road, Nudgerama and Angelic Rebel.

One charge relates to failing to provide treatment to Manning Road between June 22 and July 8, 2025, as advised by veterinary staff.

A further charge alleges Stutchbury failed to comply with minimum standards outlined in Racing Victoria’s Thoroughbred Racehorse Welfare Policy during a property inspection on June 27, 2025.

The charges will be heard before the Victorian Racing Tribunal on a date to be fixed.
