Australian Bloodstock's Cups contender Relentless Voyager, an impressive winner over 2040m at Moonee Valley on Saturday, will miss the spring.

Trainer Ciaron Maher reported on Monday that the imported stayer had suffered a check ligament injury following his victory over the Cox Plate distance at the weekend.

Relentless Voyager, who had won twice from 11 starts for Andrew Balding in the UK before being acquired by Australian Bloodstock, was unplaced at his first two starts for Maher before relishing the Valley circuit.

Connections were aiming gelding towards the Melbourne Cup via the "win and your in" Archer Stakes over 2500m at Flemington on September 13.
