The Gaming and Wagering Commission of Western Australia, which regulates the state’s gambling industry, has had its capacity expanded with new appointments.
The new appointees include former Western Australia police force assistant commissioner Paul Steel, lawyer Melanie Cave and former government minister Bill Johnston.
Steel, who until recently was the independent monitor of Crown Perth's remediation activities, is the commission's first full-time member.
Cave brings extensive expertise as a qualified lawyer experienced in commercial and property law and specialising in the end-to-end delivery of strategic national and international infrastructure projects.
Johnston, who retired from parliament before the WA state election in March, served in a diverse array of portfolios.
They join the chair Gary Dreibergs and existing members who have been re-appointed: Katie Hodson-Thomas, Colin Murphy, Helen Creed and Sam Buckeridge.
