Chris Waller has nominated seven of his stars for Saturday’s Group 1 Winx Stakes, including defending champion Via Sistina.
While Waller, who is eying a ninth success in the race, will have one eye on the Sydney weather, with rain predicted every day this week, he has opted to enter a full suite of spring aspirants.
Via Sistina is joined by stablemate Fangirl, who was third in this race last year and won it in 2023, along with Lady Shenandoah, Lindermann, Full Count Felicia, Aeliana and River Of Stars.
Rival Ciaron Maher has four nominated for the opening Group 1 race of the season, including Godolphin mare Zardozi and Australian Cup winner Light Infantry Man. Fellow Group 1 winners Gringotts and Another Wil are also among the entries.
Mr Brightside is also featured in nominations, as is Ceowulf. Acceptances are taken on Wednesday.
