SEN is tightening its grip on Australia’s racing radio assets as it finalises an acquisition play for Western Australia’s TABradio.

Just months after it secured Victoria’s RSN in a $3 million deal from the Victorian racing industry, SEN’s parent company Sports Entertainment Group Limited has stretched its footprint to acquire the audio broadcasting assets of Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA).
The sale, expected to be completed in November, will see SEN integrate TABradio into its national network, with SEN planning to showcase WA’s thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing to a broader national audience.
“This partnership will take WA racing’s stories, personalities and events to a much larger stage, while preserving the strong local connection TABradio has built over many years,” RWWA chief executive officer Ian Edwards said.
“TABradio has long been a trusted voice for our industry, keeping participants and fans informed and engaged. This move strengthens the promotion of WA racing nationally, while ensuring our audiences here in WA continue to enjoy the quality coverage they value.”
SEN chief executive officer Craig Hutchison said the pending acquisition, the price of which was not disclosed, was see RWWA's current audio assets operate alongside existing racing brands RSN and SEN Track.
"We're thrilled to have reached terms and to partner with RWWA and we hope to bring Western Australian racing into the SEN audio and digital family," Hutchison said.
"We are committed to growing WA racing nationally and look forward to partnering RWWA to engage the codes to broader and new audiences around Australia.
"This potential acquisition is another strong signal of our commitment to the racing industry and its passionate audience."

SEG purchased NBL team Perth Wildcats for $8.5 million in 2021, before selling 52 per cent last year for $21 million, and the remaining 47.5 per cent for $18.5 million.
