The sale, which in recent years has featured Group 1-winning graduates, Montefilia, Behemoth, Extra Brut, Gytrash, On The Bubbles and Lunar Fox, will be held be held at Oaklands on Friday June 13.

The bumper one-day sale includes foals by leading stallions I Am Invincible (one), Zoustar (two), Wootton Bassett (one) and Justify (four), while there are 15 weanlings by top Victorian stallion Toronado, including colts out of Group 2 winners Into The Mist and Only Words.

There are also five lots by Darley’s Too Darn Hot, who has made a record-breaking start to his Southern Hemisphere career, five by Yulong's Group 1-producing sire Alabama Express and two by Ole Kirk, who is likely to be crowned Australia’s champion first season stallion in 2024/25.

The Blue Point filly out of star mare Catchy, Lot 6, is part of the dispersal of Robert Crabtree’s bloodstock, which is being facilitated through Noorilim Park. That pair combined to sell a Stay Inside filly at the Australian Weanling Sale in Sydney, which at $650,000, and purchased back by Crabtree, was the second highest foal price ever at that sale.

Catchy herself was sold for $800,000 to Glenvale Stud at the recent Inglis Chairman’s Sale, while her two yearlings to sell publicly have sold for $1.2 million and $550,000 respectively.

Noorilim also offers a Blue Point colt out of Group 2 winner and Group 1 placegetter Belle Du Nord.

Another highlight lot on pedigree is a filly by champion NZ stallion Savabeel out of Group 2 Wellington Guineas winner Gold Bracelet.

Among the collection of Too Darn Hot offerings is a half-sister to Group 2 winner and Group 1 placegetter Formality. There is also half-sisters to Group 2 winners Kiwi Ida (by Wooded) and Tango Daughter (Daumier) and a half-brother to Konasana (St Mark’s Basilica).

The sale is also expected to be targetted by pinhookers, who have previously made strong returns. Last year’s returns included a $70,000 foal into a $380,000 yearling and a $100,000 foal into a $320,000 yearling.

“There are many vendors who have specifically held back their best weanlings for this sale so before spending any money elsewhere in coming weeks, I strongly urge buyers to look through the Great Southern Weanling Sale catalogue and consider their options first,’’ Inglis’ Victorian Bloodstock Manager James Price

“This is a mighty fine collection of weanlings. Having key support from the likes of Yulong, Rosemont, Yarraman, Twin Hills, Three Bridges, Supreme, Stonehouse, Noorilim, Musk Creek, Longwood, Gilgai etc has ensured the strength out of the sale will be as good, if not better, than previous years and it’s very exciting to be offering this outstanding catalogue to buyers.

“We are in a phase of the bloodstock cycle where it’s a buyers’ market so there will be countless extraordinary opportunities to capitalise on at Oaklands next month.’’

Supplementary entries remain open for the sale until 5pm on Wednesday June 4. All weanlings purchased are available for registration into the $12m Inglis Race Series.
