Lucy Yeomans kept emotions in check but the same couldn’t be said for her jockey Blake Shinn after Enchanted Jennie saluted at Sandown.

Enchanted Jennie gave Yeomans her first winner from only the second runner she has saddled since branching out into a solo training career.

“I thought I'd be a mess, actually, in crying, but I'm keeping it together,” she told Racing.com.

Yeomans and Shinn are one of racing’s glamour couples and it was the leading rider who tried hard to hold back the tears after he steered Enchanted Jennie to a three-quarter length win.

“Lucy's well-respected, and it is not easy going out on your own,” he said.

“She's got good support from (Enchanted Jenni’s owner) Tony Ottobre and a lot of people.

“It's a good moment for her … it's just nice to be a part of it.”

Yeomans has six horses on the books at Cranbourne where she opened a stable at the start of September.

She was a long-time employee of the Ciaron Maher operation before sharing co-training duties with Lloyd Kennewell until going into business under her own name.
