Cleo Cat has topped the latest Inglis Digital sale with the talented sprinter set to join Yulong’s elite band of broodmares.

A seven-time winner from 11 starts for trainer Tom Dabernig, the daughter of American Pharoah fetched $355,000 to the successful bid of Walnut Farm.

She secured a black-type victory in winning the Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes at Morphettville in May before finishing second at Listed level at Caulfield at her following start.

Those performances ensured Cleo Cat’s racing record goes some way towards matching a pedigree that counts Blue Diamond Stakes winner Catchy and her Group 2-winning daughter Floozie as close relations.

She will head to shuttle stallion More Than Looks.

“More Than Looks is getting his share of mares now and we can’t wait to show him to the public at our stallion parade from tomorrow,” Yulong’s Sam Fairgray said.

Last-start Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes placegetter Yellow Sam sold for $305,000 with her purchaser Dodmark Thoroughbreds potentially chasing a quick return.

Yellow Sam is an acceptor for the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday. She will stay with trainer Lindsey Smith.

“I’ll give Lindsey a call and introduce myself and tell him everything is as per usual, just keep doing what you’re doing, at least for the next couple of starts,’’ Dodmark’s Peter Dunn said.

“She’ll run on Saturday and then they were heading toward a G1 with her in a couple of weeks so I don’t want to throw a spanner in the works when they’ve got their systems worked out.

“I liked her breeding, she hasn’t had that many starts so we bought her to race her for the next month or so and then likely send her to stud but who knows, if she wins these starts we might race her on longer, we’ll just decide after her next couple of starts.”

Caste, a Group 2-winning Sir Prancelot mare who was passed in during the Inglis Chairman’s Sale in May, sold for $255,000 with Burnewang North Pastoral the successful bidder.

The sale grossed $3,207,600.
