Zarak sidelined from covering duties
Aga Khan Studs has confirmed that leading French stallion Zarak has been temporarily withdrawn from covering duties after sustaining an injury in his stable, forcing the high‑profile sire to miss the start of the 2026 breeding season.
In a statement, the operation said the son of Dubawi “will require several weeks to recuperate” following the incident.
“Leading sire Zarak will unfortunately miss the start of the 2026 covering season following an accident in his stable,” the statement read. “He will require several weeks to recuperate, and his condition will be reassessed in two months’ time.”
Based at Haras de Bonneval, Zarak was scheduled to stand again at an unchanged fee of €80,000, reflecting his rapid ascent among Europe’s most sought‑after Flat stallions.
From his first five crops he has already produced 34 individual black‑type winners, including three Group 1 winner Metropolitan, winner of the Poule d’Essai des Poulains; Haya Zark, successful in the Prix Ganay and Zagrey, who captured the Grosser Preis von Baden.
