Equity in champion sire Zoustar will be available for the first time at public auction when a share in the Widden Stud resident is sold online.
The share is being offered on the account of Qatar Bloodstock through the Inglis Digital platform’s early June online sale.
Zoustar is now well established among the upper echelon of Australian stallions, leaving his mark worldwide as the sire of 54 stakes winners, including eight at Group 1 level.
He is a Group 1-winning producer in both hemispheres with Lezoo successful in the Cheveley Park Stakes in the UK while his progeny have earned more than $110 million in prize money.
The offering entitles the successful bidder to annual priority access to Zoustar despite the fully booked sign already going up for the 2024 breeding season.
A 1/60th share of the pooled income from service fees also comes with the sale.
Zoustar will stand at $275,000 this season, the equal highest advertised stallion in the country alongside I Am Invincible.
“He is the foundation upon which we have built an extensive involvement in the Australian market,” Qatar Bloodstock’s manager David Redvers said.
“The equity in the horse is very tightly held, so this represents an unprecedented opportunity to become involved in a future champion sire of Australia and share the benefits that come with that.’’
Widden principal Antony Thompson said Zoustar’s record speaks for itself.
“(He) is the stallion we all dream about, his progeny is proven in both hemispheres, he throws million-dollar lot after million dollar lot at the sales and he produces Group 1 winner after Group 1 winner on the track,’’ Thompson said.
“You only need to look at his stats to understand just how significant this offering is, his past season on the track alone has been nothing short of phenomenal.”
Zoustar has produced 26 yearlings who have fetched more than $1 million, including seven in 2024.
As the 2023/24 season draws to a close, Zoustar is Australia’s leading sire of winners (187), leading sire of stakes winners (15) and leading sire of Group 1 winners (four).
The catalogue for the next Inglis Digital sale also features high-quality race fillies and mares including the Group 2-winning Capitalist filly Lazzago.
Bidding will open at 3pm on Friday and close from 10am next Wednesday, June 12.
