Tasmanian racing participants urged to help guide industry’s future

Stakeholders in the Tasmanian racing industry are being asked to help shape the future of the sport over the next quarter of a century.

Described as being “at a pivotal moment”, with the Tasmanian racing funding deed due to expire in July 2029, Tasracing is conducting a survey as part of the development of strategic framework in order to future-proof the thoroughbred and standardbred industries in the state.

“To ensure our industry thrives through 2050 and beyond, we need to hear from you—the trainers, owners, breeders, administrators, members and fans who are the heart of racing in Tasmania,” the survey reads.

“This survey will inform the development of our Strategic Framework 2025-2050, establishing the key strategic pillars that will guide investment, policy, and development decisions for the next 25 years. Your insights on the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats facing our industry are invaluable.”

The survey is expected to take eight to 10 minutes to complete with responses to remain confidential.

“Results will be analysed collectively to identify common themes and priorities across all stakeholder groups. As we are seeking to canvas opinions from a wide range of stakeholders, some of the enquiries may not be relevant to you, so please write not applicable (NA) for any question you feel is not applicable to you,” the Tasracing survey said.
