Stakes double ups for Steparty and Sanniya in Tassie

The Paul Preusker-trained Steparty has swept the Tasmanian weight-for-age features, adding the Listed Hellova Street Stakes to his victory in the Thomas Lyons Stakes earlier this month.

Ridden with perfect timing by John Allen, the five-year-old sat at the rear of the small field of six and came with a swoping run to win easily from Cartoon Graveyard, with the pre-race favourite Durazzo in third.

It is the seventh win and fourth at stakes level for the son of Artie Schiller, who has burst back to winning form with his Tasmanian sojourn.

Smart filly Sanniya also made it back-to-back feature successes on the Apple Isle, easily adding the Vamos Stakes to her Mystic Journey Stakes victory in Hobart.

Sent to the front by Craig Newitt, the Barry Campbell-trained Stratosphere filly was never under threat coasting to a 1.75l win over Victorian raider Grid Girl.

The Star Thoroughbreds-owned Sanniya has now won seven of her eight starts and over $500,000 in prize money and bonuses.
