Trio of seven-figure two-year-olds kickstarts Ocala

Strength at top end set the tone at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s March Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training opened in Florida with a strong first session highlighted by a US$1.35 million Corniche colt, one of three seven-figure juveniles to sell on the day.

The colt, consigned by Pick View, was purchased by Legion Bloodstock and is out of Canadian champion 3-year-old filly Leigh Court.

Another marquee result saw a Nyquist colt bring US$1.2 million to a partnership between Marquee Bloodstock and Morplay Racing.

Overall, 142 juveniles sold for US$22.97 million, producing an average of US$161,757 – up 19 per cent from last year’s opening session – and a median of $90,000, a 5.8 per cent.

The OBS March sale continues through Thursday.
