Wide draw for Sheza Alibi in Doncaster as Randwick Group 1 fields confirmed
Outstanding three-year-old Sheza Alibi will need to overcome barrier 13 in a field of 16 if she is to extend her winning sequence in the $3 million Doncaster Mile at Randwick.
Recent history presents a challenge for the filly, with five of the past six Doncaster winners drawing inside gates.
Sheza Alibi, trained by Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, will carry 49kg, giving her a significant weight advantage against older rivals as she chases a fifth straight win.
Her key rival Autumn Boy, the Caulfield Guineas and Rosehill Guineas winner, has drawn barrier one. Sheza Alibi holds a firm grip on favouritism at $2 with Autumn Boy on the second line of betting at $6.
In the ATC Australian Derby, Victoria Derby winner Observer has drawn barrier 12 of 13 as he attempts to complete a double that was most recently achieved by Riff Rocket in 2024.
The Inglis Sires’ field of 14 is headed by Golden Slipper runner-up Streisand, while the TJ Smith Stakes has attracted nine runners.
