Progeny of Winx and Bella Nipotina headline the most intriguing foals (so far) of 2026

A filly from four-time Horse of the Year Winx, Bella Nipotina’s first foal and a rare white Alabama Express filly from Utzon headline a group of 2026 arrivals for far from some of Australasia’s most celebrated mares.

The arrival of a foal from a champion racemare is always an event, but some of this spring’s newborns carry pedigrees that have breeders and buyers already dreaming of future sale-ring headlines and Group 1 success.

From the latest produce of Winx and Bella Nipotina to the first foals from emerging stallion stars Broadsiding and Switzerland, these are 10 (plus one) of the most notable foals born in Australia in 2026.

1. Too Darn Hot x Winx – filly

Winx foaled a filly at Coolmore Stud on the evening of September 22, her third surviving foal.

“Everything went well. She’s bounced back well and is nice and comfortable. The team at Coolmore, you never have to worry, because they watch them so well,” Winx’s part-owner Debbie Kepitis said.

Winx Pierro filly Quinceanera sold for $10 million at the 2024 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale before being retired unraced. Her Snitzel colt was withdrawn from the 2026 Easter sale after a setback.

Too Darn Hot covered 16 Group 1-winning mares in 2025, including Alizee, Arcadia Queen, Estijaab, In Secret, Hiyaam, Gust Of Wind, Mossfun, Sierra Sue, Stay With Me and Winx.

He also covered the dams of 12 Group 1 winners.

2. Zoustar x Bella Nipotina – colt

Bella Nipotina delivered her first foal, a Zoustar colt, at Longwood Thoroughbred Farm on September 11. The farm said mare and foal were doing well.

Longwood bought her for $4.2 million at the 2025 Inglis Chairman’s Sale after a career that yielded 11 wins, four Group 1s and $22.7 million in prize money. Her 2024 Everest victory made her the first mare to win the race.

Longwood announced the colt’s arrival on September 11.

Zoustar’s 2025 book included multiple Group 1-winning mares, including Tattersalls Tiara victress Tashi and dual Group 1 winner Tropical Squall.

He also covered Medaglia Valore, the dam of Campione D’Italia, and Autumn Glow’s dam, Via Africa.

3. City Of Troy x Avantage – filly

Avantage’s City Of Troy filly is the fourth foal out of the nine-time Group 1 winner. Coolmore described her as about a month old and thriving in its October 3 update.

Avantage’s previous three foals had sold for a combined $4.75 million. The mare has been covered by City Of Troy again this spring.

Coolmore shared an update on Avantage’s filly on October 3.

City Of Troy’s first Australian book was provisionally recorded at 157 mares. Coolmore named Sea Siren, Coolangatta and Tiggy Wiggy alongside Avantage as Group 1 winners due to foal to him in 2026.

4. Too Darn Hot x In Secret – colt

In Secret’s second foal, a colt, arrived in late August. The champion mare, who won both the Coolmore Stud Stakes and Newmarket Handicap, resides at Godolphin’s Woodlands property in the Hunter Valley.

As mentioned, she was one of 14 Group 1 winners who visited Too Darn Hot in 2025.

5. Alabama Express x Atishu – filly

Atishu has produced an Alabama Express filly, with Yulong showing the youngster at a week old in a video from Segenhoe Valley.

Yulong bought the triple Group 1 winner for $2.7 million in 2025, adding to the operation’s substantial investment in elite broodmares.

Alabama Express’s 212-mare book in 2025 included 21 Group 1 winners. Other named mares covered for the 2026 crop included Deny Knowledge, Imperatriz, Espiona, Tofane, Chain Of Lightning, Icebath, Kimochi, Mariamia, Pennyweka, Sheeza Belter, Velocious, Viddora, Belclare, Dear Demi, Entriviere, Full Count Felicia, Hinged, Moira and Pulchritudinous.

6. Alabama Express x Deny Knowledge – filly

Deny Knowledge’s first foal is a filly by Alabama Express.

The 2024 Might And Power Stakes winner retired in April 2025 with 10 wins from 41 starts and more than $2.3 million in prize money. She was purchased by Yulong.

7. Zoustar x Tropical Squall – filly

A winner of both the Flight Stakes and Surround Stakes, Tropical Squall has begun her broodmare career with a Zoustar filly, shown with her dam in a Castle Hill Farm post.

Castle Hill Farm introduced Tropical Squall’s first foal, a Zoustar filly.

8. City Of Troy x Sea Siren – filly

The City Of Troy filly is a half-sister to triple Group 1 winner Warm Heart and stakes winner Bremen. She is part of City Of Troy’s first Australian crop.

Coolmore featured Sea Siren among mares in foal to City Of Troy in its July preview.

Coolmore’s anticipated 2026 foaling group also included Group 1 winners Coolangatta and Tiggy Wiggy, alongside Sea Siren and Avantage.

9. Broadsiding x Lasqueti Spirit – colt

Lasqueti Spirit has produced a colt by Broadsiding, pairing a VRC Oaks-winning dam with a four-time Group 1-winning sire in his first crop.

Mystery Downs is listed as the breeder, while Fairview Park Stud shared footage of the mare and colt in a paddock.

10. Switzerland x Booker – filly

Booker has produced a Switzerland filly, one of three fillies Coolmore featured when announcing the stallion’s first foals on September 22.

Switzerland covered 195 mares in 2025.

Coolmore featured Booker’s filly among Switzerland’s first foals.

It named Krone, Invincibella, Mizzy, Nakeeta Jane and Fix alongside Booker among the Group 1 winners in Switzerland’s first in-foal book, putting those five mares among the expected contributors to his 2026 crop.

Alabama Express x Utzon – filly

From a mare renowned for stamping her foals with a rare white coat, this striking Alabama Express filly bred by Yulong is the latest chapter in the story of Utzon.

Distinguished by her chestnut-coloured ears, she is the third white foal among the six produced to date by the Yulong-owned mare, who was purchased as a yearling from Karaka Book 1 in 2018 for $120,000.

Utzon has made a promising start at stud, with her first runner, the Grunt filly Pipi Road, already a winner. Her second foal to race, Frozen Princess,  has shown ability,
