Alderson honoured as VRC celebrates country racing at Flemington
Cranbourne trainer Cindy Alderson will be recognised for her long-standing contribution to the thoroughbred industry after being named the 2026 Country Achiever Award recipient ahead of the Victoria Racing Club’s annual Country Race Day at Flemington on Saturday.
In conjunction with the Australian Trainers’ Association and Country Racing Victoria, the award acknowledges a country-based trainer who has made a sustained and significant impact on the sport. A race on the program will be run in Alderson’s honour.
Alderson has had an extraordinary season thanks to her star Jigsaw, who has won Group 1 races in Australia and New Zealand, plus victories in The Quokka.
The race day celebrates the contribution of Victoria’s regional racing community, with country race club members receiving complimentary access to the VRC Members Enclosure on presentation of a valid membership card.
Adding to the event, retired stars Redkirk Warrior and Fab’s Cowboy will parade after races two and four and be available for public viewing.
