Aristopolos goes four from four with Magic Millions success
Promising Tasmanian colt Aristopolos has stretched his unbeaten run to four with an emphatic 8.5-length demolition of his rivals in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic in Hobart on Friday.
The John Blacker-trained colt, who is from the first southern hemisphere-bred crop of Coolmore’s shuttling stallion St Mark’s Basilica, scored his most comprehensive victory to date in the $85,000 Magic Millions sales-restricted race, run in the Tasmanian capital for the first time.
Aristopolos ($1.14 favourite) defeated the Adam Trinder-trained Sovereign Dash ($10) with Barry Campbell’s first starter Ramiro ($9.50) running third, 10 lengths behind the winner.
Bred by Armidale Stud, Aristopolos is the third foal out of the stakes-placed mare Flying Krupt who has a weanling colt by Newgate Farm’s King’s Gambit on the ground. She was served last year by Armidale Stud’s first season sire Bodyguard.
Meanwhile, stakes winner Perspiration returned to winning form in the $75,000 Magic Millions 3YO and 4YO Classic, putting a half-length on stablemate Swift Force in an upset result.
The $1.16 favourite Mazzini trailed the leader but couldn’t match his older rivals, tiring to finish fourth. Perspiration won the 2024 Listed Heritage Stakes in Sydney for trainer Ciaron Maher but was sold online last year by Stephen and Yasmin Maskiell for $90,000 in May last year.
