Arqana pair headed to Australia

Recent Deauville winner Dante Nonantais is set for an Australian future after OTI Racing secured the three‑year‑old for €180,000 on the final day of the Arqana February Mixed Sale.

The son of Hunter’s Light, trained by Florian Bellemere, was the highest‑priced lot among 170 horses sold, having been added to the catalogue as a wildcard following his impressive debut victory.

He will now join the stable of Tony and Calvin McEvoy, last year’s Melbourne Cup–winning trainers. OTI’s Thibault de Seyssel said the gelding had “real potential” and a profile well suited to Australian racing.

A second promising three‑year‑old, Recollect, will also travel to Australia after being purchased for €120,000 by trainer Amy Murphy on behalf of Henry Dwyer.

The clearance rate for the entire sale stood at 70 per cent, for an average price of €13,709 and total turnover of €3,299,750.
