Bellamy sidelined with fractured sternum
NSW apprentice jockey Courtney Bellamy is recovering from a fractured sternum after a horse reared and fell on top of her in the mounting yard at a race meeting on Tuesday.
Bellamy was to ride the Chris and Corey Munce-trained Enchaanted until the incident occurred prior to race two at Ballina, on the north coast of NSW.
Paramedics attended to the injured jockey and Enchaanted was scratched from the 1000m maiden. Bellamy was discharged from hospital on Wednesday with a broken sternum. She is expected to be out of the saddle for a number of weeks.
