Second-season sires Wootton Bassett, Anders and Bivouac all celebrated metropolitan midweek winners on Wednesday.

The Matt Cumani-trained Single Choice, a gelded son of Widden’s Anders, made it back-to-back wins with victory over 1300 metres at Bendigo. The $800,000 NZB Ready To Run graduate is one of nine first-crop winners by his sire.

At Doomben, Shadwell Lane broke through at start three for Sunshine Coast trainer Jim Mason and owner Mike Sherrin. A daughter of Coolmore’s Wootton Bassett, she is the 16th Southern Hemisphere-bred winner for sire.

Meanwhile, Ciaron Maher prepared Bivouac gelding Benevac to win an 1100-metre maiden at Canterbury.

A Segenhoe Stud draftee at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale, she was purchased for Dynamic Syndications and Dean Watt Bloodstock for $140,000. She is the sixth winner from seven to the races out of Encosta de Lago mare Houston Benefactor, a sister to Group 2 winner Sovereign Nation and a three-quarter-sister to multiple Group 1 winner Princess Coup.

Darley’s Bivouac now has 11 winners from his first crop.
