Bittar aims at new goals as Football Australia board member

Renowned racing and wagering figure Paul Bittar has been appointed to the board of Football Australia.

Bittar is a former chief executive of the British Horseracing Authority as well as New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing, while he worked in a chief strategy role at Racing Victoria, a sports partnership role with Sportsbet and a key consultant to a host of other related entities.

He was also a Board member of TAB NZ and a director of IFHA and Great British Racing International.

Bittar’s election to the Football Australia board was proposed by Adelaide United FC and seconded by Natalie Matich and his term of office expires at the 2029 Annual General Meeting.

“I’m excited and fortunate to be given this Board opportunity with Football Australia and look forward to working with the Board, the FA team and all stakeholders on how we can grow the game,” Bittar said on LinkedIn.

“How good that I now get to spend even more time thinking about football! Immediate priority is cheering on the Socceroos over coming weeks.”

It comes as the governing body faces a series of major financial challenges.
