Blinkered Tom Kitten in minor barrier mishap

Co-trainer Anthony Freedman has advised Racing NSW stewards that Tom Kitten was put through barrier practice in blinkers ahead of Saturday’s Group 1 All Aged Stakes at Randwick Racecourse, where he is set to wear the gear for the first time.

Freedman reported the gelding became fractious after being loaded, rearing and sitting down before being removed from the barriers.

He added Tom Kitten did not appear to suffer any injury, with a veterinary clearance subsequently provided.

Stewards advised the Godolphin-owned five-year-old will be subject to a pre-race veterinary examination should he take his place in the All Aged Stakes.

Tom Kitten, winner of the All-Star Mile two starts ago, has been freshened following his last-start run over 2000 metres in the Australian Cup and is set to drop back to 1400 metres on Saturday.

Kerrin McEvoy has been booked to ride.
