Boomer and Murray make Profoundly Digital investment

Victorian breeder Peter Murray and Boomer Bloodstock’s Craig Rounsefell have bought last season’s Adrian Knox winner and Australian Oaks runner-up Profoundly, a lightly raced daughter of Farnan whose career was cut short by injury.

The pair, who earlier this year sold a weanling Anamoe half-sister to Queensland Oaks winner Fireball Miss for $825,000, paid $360,000 for the mare at Wednesday’s Inglis Digital online sale.

The late August sale’s highest-priced lot, four-year-old Profoundly was retired after suffering a suspensory injury while in training with Michael Freedman earlier this month, prompting her sale on the eve of the breeding season.

“Peter is building a very strong, young, boutique broodmare band at Three Bridges and Profoundly fits the mould perfectly for what he is looking for,’’ Rounsefell said.

“We’ve already done plenty of work on a mating plan for her but we will make a final decision on which stallion she visits within the next week.

“We thought she was very fairly valued at $360,000, that’s about where we thought she would land and sometimes the cards fall your way and they certainly did today.’’.

Profoundly is a half-sister to Group 3-winning two-year-old Sebonack, who also ran fourth in the Blue Diamond Stakes as a juvenile behind Daumier.

Another four-year-old mare, the placed mare Eyes Of Blue, was the second highest-priced lot of the Inglis Digital sale, fetching $235,000 to the bid of Reg Ryan, who bred Newmarket Handicap-winning sprinter Caballus.

The daughter of Snitzel is a sister to Group 3 winner Bridal Waltz and a half-sister to Group 3 winner She Dances. Her second dam is Innovation Girl.

She will be served by Vinery Stud’s Ole Kirk this year.
