Caulfield Cup winner Durston dies in paddock accident
Durston, the 2022 Caulfield Cup winner, has died following a paddock accident at Living Legends in Victoria.
Living Legends confirmed the accident occurred during a routine morning gallop with stablemates Twilight Payment and So Si Bon.
“Durston was a truly gentle soul – affectionate, cuddly, and full of character. He loved a gallop around the paddock and was always up to a little bit of cheeky mischief, keeping everyone on their toes and smiling along the way,” the statement said.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to his owners, connections, and everyone who loved him. He will be deeply missed.”
Durston won six of his 16 races, including the Caulfield Cup for Chris Waller. He also won the Wyong Cup and Newcastle Cup during a successful 2022 spring campaign. The son of Sea The Moon raced in the Highclere Thoroughbred colours having begun his career in Great Britain.
