Chayan a solo Golden Slipper favourite after barrier draw

Chayan has firmed to outright favouritism for the $5 million Golden Slipper at Rosehill after Tuesday’s barrier draw confirmed a wide-open edition of the world’s richest two-year-old race.

The Annabel and Rob Archibald-trained filly, winner of the Reisling Stakes at her most recent start, will jump from barrier 12.

She has been promoted to the top of betting as a $5 chance following the draw.

The final field features several leading contenders drawn wide, including the Bjorn Baker-trained pair Paradoxium (barrier 14) and Warwoven (18), adding further intrigue to the 1200-metre Group 1.

Warwoven, winner of the Pago Pago Stakes last Saturday, is on the second line of betting at $7 with Paradoxium next at $8.

Chris Waller has three runners engaged with Fireball (seven), Campione D’Italia (four) and Hidrix (one) among the acceptances.

This year’s Slipper has shaped as one of the more open editions in recent seasons, with no clear standout emerging through the lead-up races in Sydney and Melbourne.
