Contingency plans in place for major meetings in NSW

Wyong Race Club’s standalone meeting on Saturday is under review due to forecast high temperatures, with Sunday designated as the back-up option if conditions remain extreme.

Racing NSW says a final decision on whether the Wyong meeting goes ahead as scheduled or is moved will be made on Thursday.

The Wyong meeting features the $500,000 Lakes Mile with premier trainer Chris Waller having five of the 15 acceptors.

Meanwhile, the forecast for Kembla Grange on Saturday is for 41 degrees, with a thunderstorm likely in the evening.

Goulburn is being considered as an alternative venue to Kembla Grange, with current forecasts predicting lower temperatures on the NSW Southern Tablelands.

A decision on Kembla Grange’s meeting and any potential venue change will be confirmed on Friday morning.

If the Wyong meeting is postponed to Sunday, the Nowra race meeting on the same day will be rescheduled for early next week.
