No Tote – Fixed odds only as King Charles field size cuts out Aussie punters
Asfoora and Overpass contest Tuesday’s Group 1 feature at Royal Ascot, but Australian punters won’t be able to back them either via World Pool or the local tote.

Despite having two runners in the race, Australians won’t have access to betting on the King Charles III Stakes via World Pool at Royal Ascot due to more than 24 runners accepting.
Tabcorp, which offers totalisator betting on English racing as an exclusive licensee, is unable to field races with more than 24 horses, which is one of the main reasons the Melbourne Cup is restricted to that number.
The King Charles, formerly the King’s Stand, has 26 horses engaged, including Australian-trained pair Asfoora and Overpass.
It means Australian racing fans will not be able to bet via a tote or utilise tote exotics, despite World Pool, which has the technology to handle more than 24 runners, operating on every race at Royal Ascot.
Tabcorp will offer fixed odds, while other wagering providers, which rely on Tabcorp for tote derivatives, will also operate via fixed odds for exotics.
While it is far from unprecedented for overseas races with fields larger than 24 to operate as fixed odds only in Australia, it is rare for a race of such public interest as the King Charles to fall into this category.
