Everest out, King Charles in for Autumn Glow

The Everest has been ruled out for Autumn Glow, with the reigning Australian Horse of the Year’s connections electing to target feature 1600m races with the star five-year-old.

The Chris Waller-trained Autumn Glow resumed with a win in the Group 1 Winx Stakes last weekend, prompting discussion as to whether the daughter of The Autumn Sun should take on Ka Ying Rising in this year’s Everest.

After a meeting between Arrowfield Stud, Hermitage Thoroughbreds and Waller, it has been decided to focus on the Group 2 7 Stakes at Randwick on September 19 and the King Charles III Stakes at the same track on October 17, the same day as The Everest.

“All going well, her spring campaign will conclude in a race yet to be decided, at Flemington during Melbourne Cup Week,” Arrowfield Stud posted on social media on Friday.

The $1.8 million yearling, who has won 12 of her 13 starts, was named Australian Horse of the Year at a ceremony in Sydney on Thursday evening.
