Fangirl off to the broodmare paddock with Anamoe mating in mind
Nine-time Group 1 winner Anamoe, whose first crop are two-year-olds, is firming as Fangirl’s maiden mating after her race career was brought to a halt.
The four-time Group 1-winning mare by Sebring, who was bred and raced by the Ingham family, finished third in last Saturday’s Chelmsford Stakes at Randwick, an effort that suggested to her trainer Chris Waller that her future was as a broodmare.
An eight-year-old, Fangirl won 12 of her 42 starts including a Vinery Stud Stakes at three, a Winx Stakes, a King Charles and a Queen Of The Turf last year.
Fangirl is a daughter of the Ingham-raced stakes-winning mare Little Surfer Girl whose last foal Gerroa Princess, a daughter of Home Affairs, was retained by the Inghams and will be trained by Waller.
Anamoe would be favourite to win this season’s champion first season sire title on the back of the depth of mares he covered in his first season at Darley Kelvinside and the strength of his sale results at the 2026 yearling sales.
