Global bookmaker bet365 plans 340 redundancies amid restructure

Bet365 is set to cut 340 jobs across its UK and European operations as part of a business restructure.

The bookmaker confirmed positions would be lost at its headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent, as well as offices in Malta and Gibraltar.

Bet365 says it was operating in a “highly competitive trading environment” while facing increased regulatory and tax-related costs.

The job cuts represent about 3 per cent of the company’s global workforce, with bet365 saying it would explore ways to reduce compulsory redundancies.

“Our colleagues are our priority,” a bet365 spokesperson said.

“We understand the concerns many will have. Impacted staff have been informed and are being fully supported throughout this process.”

The bookmaker’s Stoke-on-Trent headquarters in the UK employs about 5500 people.
