Group 1-winning mare Sunshine In Paris has been retired after suffering an injury in trackwork.
Trainers Annabel and Rob Archibald said a decision to call time on the six-year-old’s career was made in consultation with their stable’s vet and owners John and Deb Camilleri.
Sunshine In Paris will bow out as a last-start Group 1 winner, having claimed the Doomben 10,000 during the Brisbane winter carnival.
The 10,000 was her third elite-level win after her victories in the Surround Stakes as a three-year-old and last season’s VRC Classic.
Sunshine in Paris was offered at the 2023 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale where she was bought by James Harron Bloodstock on behalf of the Camilleris’ Fairway Thoroughbreds for $3.9 million.
She occupied the Everest slot of Fairway Thoroughbreds last year, finishing fifth to Bella Nipotina.
"She has been a wonderful flagbearer for the stable, who delivered us unforgettable moments on the track and we are very grateful to John and Deb for entrusting us with their star mare, who will fondly be remembered as Rob's first Group 1 winner," a stable statement read.
“We know she will be a wonderful mare at stud and look forward to following her next chapter.”
It now leaves Fairway Thoroughbreds' slot for the 2025 Everest open for other horses. That slot was purchased in 2024 after being secured from previous owner Aquis.
