Thousand Guineas winner Madame Pommery is latest Group1 winner to be confirmed for next month’s Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast.

The four-year-old won two of her 18 starts for Chris Waller, including the 2022 Thousand Guineas, defeating Revolutionary Miss and She’s Licketysplit. She finished a narrow second to multiple Group 1 winner Zougotcha in the Tea Rose Stakes.

She is a daughter of No Nay Never out of Exceed And Excel mare Cancel, who is a sister to champion two-year-old and Blue Diamond Stakes winner Earthquake.

Waller purchased her in conjunction with Guy Mulcaster for $150,000 for an all-female ownership group at the 2021 Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

“She’s a nice strong mare who was always straight forward to train,” Waller said. “She has a great temperament and she always coped well in training,”

“Madame Pommery was good enough to win at two. She always raced against good opposition and is a Group One winner.”

“As well as her good looks, great strength and impressive race record she is by an international stallion and possesses a great pedigree.

Group 1 winners Atishu, Chain of Lightning and Belclare have already been confirmed for the Gold Coast sale, with the online catalogue for the sale is set to be live in the coming days.
