McGuire promoted to Coolmore Australia’s racing manager

Coolmore Australia has elevated Brian McGuire to the role of Racing Manager, nearly three years after he joined the global powerhouse’s sales and nominations team.

Coolmore Australia principal Tom Magnier confirmed McGuire would replace John Kennedy in the role after it was recently confirmed that Kennedy would take up the position of NSW bloodstock manager at Ciaron Maher Racing.

“We are pleased to announce that Brian McGuire has been appointed racing manager at Coolmore Australia,” Magnier said.

“Brian brings a wealth of experience to the role, and we look forward to his continued contribution to the team.”

In a sign of the cyclical nature of the industry, McGuire himself previously worked for Ciaron Maher Racing for two-and-a-half years from 2017 to 2019.

The Irish National Stud graduate also spent more than two years as racing and bloodstock Manager at Aquis before operating his own bloodstock consultancy, Garryard Equine.

Part of his role there involved working closely with Annabel Neasham Racing, including now co-trainer Rob Archibald, who held the Coolmore racing manager role before Kennedy succeeded him.

McGuire has also worked with Gai Waterhouse Racing and Dermot Farrington Bloodstock.

His appointment as racing manager marks the latest chapter in a career spent on both the racing and breeding sides of the industry, bringing together experience in horse selection, client management and stable operations.

Coolmore has racing interests across multiple stables in Australia, including those of Chris Waller, Ciaron Maher, Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, and Lindsay Park, among others.
