Michael Suey appointed head of racecourses at Melbourne Racing Club
Melbourne Racing Club has promoted long-serving employee Michael Suey to head of racecourses, overseeing its three venues at Caulfield, Sandown, and Mornington.
Track managers at all three courses will report directly to Suey, who played a central role in upgrading MRC tracks during 2025, the club said in a Friday statement.
MRC chief executive Tanya Fullarton said enhancing the performance of the club’s racecourses had been a key focus since her arrival.
“Our objective is to ensure MRC racecourses deliver among the best track surfaces in Australia, underpinned by strong internal leadership and external best-practice expertise,” Fullarton said.
An interim renovation at Caulfield followed the spring carnival to maintain consistent track performance for the 2026 racing season.
A major refurbishment of Caulfield is planned after the 2026 Caulfield Cup, with the track expected to reopen in early 2027.
Sandown is scheduled for a similar upgrade in late 2028, with Mornington to undergo refurbishment in 2029.
