Mirra View has become the latest stakes-winning mare to join Yulong’s broodmare band after being purchased for $600,000 through Inglis Digital August (Late) Online.
The daughter of More Than Ready and Group 3 winner Mirrasalo and half-sister to Group 3 winner Mirra Vision, was snapped up by Walnut Farm and will head to Yulong’s Victorian base.
A decision on which stallion she will head to has yet to be made.
It was an outstanding result for breeders Peter and Catherine Campbell of Bennelong Bloodstock and Paringa Stud’s Lynette ‘Reggie’ Blundell, who offered the mare.
“We were realistic in watching where the market sat at the moment and while you want to put them on the market and let the competition play out, you also don’t want to give them away so I think this is an ideal outcome for everybody,” Blundell said.
“There was a huge amount of interest in her based on the volume of enquiries that either myself or Inglis received, so it’s reassuring to know that she got the attention of all the major breeders and investors domestically.
“This is the best result we’ve achieved online. It’s been a great experience, doing it all from our own backyard.”
Mirra View won five of her 25 starts for Peter and Paul Snowden, including last year’s Listed Mona Lisa Stakes at Wyong.
Sean Buckley’s Ultra Thoroughbreds went to $275,000 to secure the Dan O’Sullivan-offered One Last Kiss, another mare headed to the breeding barn.
Bred and raced by David Peacock, One Last Kiss, a daughter of Toronado, won three of her 17 starts for O’Sullivan, and was last seen when sixth in the Group 2 Adelaide Cup.
“She deserved what turned out be a very healthy price, she’s a beautiful mare,’’ O’Sullivan said.
“We were really looking forward to her coming back into the stable but unfortunately she sustained the injury which led to her premature retirement but she’s going to make a terrific broodmare.”
The August (Late) Sale grossed $3,235,226, with 231 lots sold.
