NZB breeze-ups conclude at Te Rapa
The 2026 NZB Ready to Run Sale Breeze Ups wrapped up at Te Rapa on Tuesday, with 198 juveniles galloping over 200m ahead of next month’s Karaka sale.
Windier conditions and intermittent showers contributed to a slower average time of 11.02 seconds on day two, compared to 10.75 on Monday. Across the two days, 389 horses breezed up for an overall average of 10.89 seconds.
NZB managing director Andrew Seabrook said vendors had again presented a high-quality group of two-year-olds, while cautioning buyers to take stronger headwinds into account when assessing Tuesday’s times.
Prima Park’s Tassort gelding (Lot 35) retained the title of fastest horse across the Breeze Ups, stopping the clock at 10.19 seconds. A Zousain colt (Lot 206) was next quickest overall at 10.24.
Tuesday’s standout was KB Bloodstock’s Zousain gelding (Lot 357), which posted the day’s fastest time of 10.41 seconds. Ohukia Lodge’s All Too Hard colt (Lot 132), described by Chanel Beatson as an “outstanding colt”, was close behind at 10.42.
The 2026 Ready to Run Sale will be held at Karaka on November 18 and 19, with Breeze Up footage due to be available later this week.
