Racing Victoria, in partnership with Ladbrokes, has launched a new competition to further reward and recognise the success of Victorian jockeys.
The Ladbrokes Jockey of the Month award will see riders win points on a 3-2-1 basis when placing first, second or third in every race run in Victoria.
Double points will be won in all races at country cup meetings.
Jockeys will receive an additional 1 point for every race start during the competition.
Commencing on Monday, each individual competition will take place over one month, with the jockey who wins the most points at the conclusion of each month winning $5000.
The competition will be held during each remaining month of the 2025/26 racing season.
“This initiative not only rewards our riders but also adds an exciting new element for fans following racing right across the state - from metropolitan meetings to exciting country cups,” Racing Victoria chief executive Aaron Morrison said.
Ladbrokes is expected to post betting markets on the monthly award.
